Week 44 2026 (Mon Oct 26 - Sun Nov 1, 2026)
Highlights
- Pushed out an important fix to our swarm protocol which could cause downloads to stall/fail.
Large Data Transport Layer for Mix
- achieved:
- preparing MixTransport PR, low-level Mix API PR
- new PR #5 - allow the recipient (one of the roles in the MixTransport session) to send the two redundant copies of each reverse Data frame concurrently, enabled by compiling with
-d:mixExperimentConcurrentDataCopies. We will most probably make it the default and remove the compile flag - to be confirmed with the team. - side activity: mega.dev training. We are experimenting to create a more structured, professional AI workflow for the storage team. In the coming 4 weeks we will be spending some time following a formal AI training addressing this matter deeply.
- next:
- Finish the remaining transport work and prepare a release: MixTransport PR, low-level Mix API PR.
- mega.dev
Block Protocol and Mix Transport Optimizations
- achieved:
- Updated the swarm and per-transport state PR: replace only stale unknown peers, fail downloads when their transport context is missing, and log failed provider lookups. Added Mix transport tracing to NAT integration nodes.
- Continued preparing block, manifest and want-list validation fixes.
- next:
- Merge the swarm and validation fixes, and finish the block-exchange adapter metrics and bandwidth-delay-product adjustments discussed in the engineering call.
Logos Core Integration
- achieved:
- Merged the download-completion event and nim-ffi/Chronos updates. Updated the Storage Module bindings PR to use the generated bindings and download-completion event.
- Merged module documentation, logosctl doctests, and Nix cache integration.
- Merged maintainer-triggered PR review automation and documentation cleanup.
- Reported the nim-ffi incremental-compilation blocker; an upstream fix is under review.
- Merged the Storage state after reload fix.
- next:
- Address the validated Storage bugs and document testing/release procedures, as discussed in the engineering call.
Misc
- Merged the Leopard-RS compiler selection fix, ensuring native Windows builds using Nim’s GCC backend also use GCC/G++ in CMake.
- Merged the LCOV 2.4 coverage fix.
- Released nim-datastore v0.2.4 and nim-merkletree v1.0.1, allowing stew 0.5; merkletree’s package version now matches its release version.
- Prepared the Nim 2.2.14 update. The separate Nim 2.4 update is blocked by an upstream refc regression; also reported YRC and SSO compilation issues.
- Opened a questionable results dependency cleanup and Storage documentation improvements.
- Reported eleven libstorage/REST bugs covering stalled transfers, lifecycle cleanup, validation and download behavior (#1559 through #1569).
